The Edmonton Heritage Council (EHC) is excited to announce that applications are now open for our fall intake grant programs aimed at supporting and enhancing Edmonton’s rich heritage. This year, we’re introducing a new grants application portal designed to streamline the application process, making it easier than ever for individuals and organizations to apply for funding.
New Application Portal
Applicants can now submit their grant proposals through our new user-friendly portal at https://ehc.smapply.ca/. This platform is designed to simplify the application process, allowing you to focus on what matters most – your heritage projects.
Available Grant Programs
The EHC administers multiple grant streams, including the Heritage Community Investment Program (HCIP) and Funding Indigenous Resurgence in Edmonton (FIRE). These grants play a crucial role in stabilizing, professionalizing, and fostering innovation in Edmonton’s heritage sector.
Heritage Community Investment Program (HCIP)
- Operational Grants
- Provides operating assistance to museums, archives, and other heritage organizations
- Aims to increase capacity for research, preservation, interpretation, and advocacy of Edmonton’s heritage
- Funding: Up to 25% of eligible operating expenses based on previous year’s financial statements
- Deadline: October 4th
- Project Accelerator Grant
- Supports small-scale heritage projects that tell Edmonton stories
- Open to individuals and organizations
- Funding: Up to $10,000
- Deadline: October 7th
- Research & Planning Grant
- Supports preliminary research or planning for larger heritage projects
- Open to individuals and organizations
- Funding: Up to $5,000
- Deadline: October 7th
Funding Indigenous Resurgence in Edmonton (FIRE)
- Supports heritage-based projects by First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals, collectives, and organizations
- Funding: Up to $10,000
- Deadline: October 16th
