Dr. Nathalie Kermoal is Breton (a people located on the West coast of France) and a full Professor at the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta, in addition to the director of the Rupertsland Centre for Métis Research. Her research as a historian has focused primarily on peoples or communities frequently overlooked by mainstream historians, specifically Métis women and Métis in urban centers. As the director of the RCMR, she is a key partner in the project, especially in the dissemination of results to Métis communities across Alberta and beyond. Kermoal will be engaging Métis women’s roles in land-based engagement around healing and identity.

Dr. Kermoal is a co-presenter (with Dr. Paul Gareau and Dr. Kisha Supernant) of Métis Kinscapes Project: Navigating “Community” While Researching Métis Relations and Peoplehood at Lac Ste. Anne, AB, part of the symposium Reconciliation and Resurgence: Heritage Practice in Post-TRC Edmonton on March 3 and 4.
