A note on framing
What is intangible
cultural heritage?
UNESCO defines intangible cultural heritage as the practices, representations, expressions, knowledge, and skills — together with the instruments, objects, artefacts, and cultural spaces associated with them — that communities, groups, and individuals recognize as part of their cultural heritage.
Unlike monuments and collections, intangible heritage is constantly recreated by communities in response to their environment and their history. It is the living breath behind the buildings, the stories behind the artifacts, the people behind the practices.
