Dr. Lois Edge

Dr. Lois Edge is an Indigenous Studies instructor for the Bachelor of Education program at Aurora College Thebacha campus in her home community of Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. A member of the Northwest Territories Métis Nation, Lois earned a doctorate in Educational Policy Studies with a specialization in Indigenous Peoples Education from the University of Alberta. She has taught courses in Indigenous education at various post-secondary institutions. Her interests include Indigenous education, cultural regeneration and research; ethnohistory, autoethnography and Dene Métis lifeways; Indigenous women, ancestral knowledge and Indigenous arts; and social policy. A grandmother, Lois enjoys engaging in land-based activities with her granddaughter.

Dr. Edge is a co-presenter (with Camilia Zoe-Chocolate) of Deh Gah Gotine (“I Am…”): A Celebration of Northern Indigenous Heritage, part of the symposium Reconciliation and Resurgence: Heritage Practice in Post-TRC Edmonton on March 3 and 4.
