ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

Edmonton Heritage Council (EHC) is a not-for-profit culture organization that connects people to the stories of our city through our leadership, support, and programs. We do this by helping Edmontonians’ research, preserve, interpret, and advocate for their heritage.

POSITION SUMMARY

EHC is looking for a creative and innovative community-minded individual to join our Edmonton City as Museum Project (ECAMP) team! Working under the Community Engagement Manager, the Exhibit Coordinator will collaborate with community partners to lead digital and physical exhibits that tell the stories that matter to Edmonton.

What YOU’RE Responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the ECAMP team on new exhibit initiatives and revising and developing relevant policies and procedures
  • Working with communications team to design and develop pop-up exhibits for events
  • Managing digital exhibit development, including partnering with community groups, web developers, graphic designers, internal team members
  • Collaborating with the ECAMP Coordinator and Community Engagement Manager on ECAMP projects and themes
  • Managing and maintaining digital asset management software to be used with exhibits and by other team members
  • Working closely with other EHC staff to develop and maintain relationships with community members (individuals and organizations)
  • Researching and writing exhibit proposals, content, and reports
  • Editing exhibit content from community contributors
  • Participating in delivery and development of ECAMP programming and outreach initiatives, especially those related to exhibits
  • Training, supervising, and coordinating the work of interns or seasonal staff as required

What you bring:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience (including internships or seasonal positions) in field
  • Bachelors’ Degree in related field
  • Project management and exhibit planning experience
  • Experience with community-led and partnered exhibit and program development
  • Contract and consultant management experience
  • Experience with digital exhibit development, design, and implementation
  • Physical exhibit development, design, and installation experience
  • Collections or digital asset management software experience
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills
  • Interpersonal, teamwork, facilitation, consultation and conflict-resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Strong organizational and project management skills including ability to manage time between short term and long-term projects.
  • Creativity and problem-solving skills

What we’d love for you to have:

  • Knowledge of history, public history, and/or heritage, with understanding of Edmonton’s history an asset
  • Master’s degree or additional educational certifications
  • Be familiar with the Edmonton region, its heritage and related organizations.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and ability to work within a team in an informal environment, but also comfortable in assisting in more formal settings.
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector.

  • Hybrid work culture.
  • Paid Vacation: 3 weeks /year for the 1st year & 4 weeks/ year starting in the 2nd year.
  • Paid Wellness days: up to 16 days of wellness leave for illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, (job protected leaves – under the discretion on the ED)

  • Personal health service allowance up to $800/year. The annual limit will be pro-rated for full-time equivalency.

  • Pension plan: after one (1 year) of continuous employment, employees may enroll in EHC’s pension plan with matching contributions from the organization of up to 4% of the employee’s annual salary.
  • Office hours: Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The work week generally falls into this schedule with flexibility needed for occasional events or meetings on evenings or weekends.
