Operational Funding grants are designed to provide limited operating assistance—up to 25 percent of an applicant’s eligible expenses—to museums, archives and other heritage organizations so that they can continue to research, preserve and interpret Edmonton’s heritage. When making funding decisions, we give preference to organizations who can show they are serving the heritage needs of the diversity of Edmontonians.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, heritage organizations must have been registered as a non-profit society for at least one year, and their activities must generally take place within the corporate limits of the City of Edmonton. Applicants must have no outstanding final reports, or unused previous grant funding. Heritage organizations which have a dedicated facility must be open at least 200 hours per calendar year. Those without a dedicated facility must have ongoing public programming that promotes Edmonton’s heritage.
Who is not eligible?
This program excludes: educational institutions, recreation centers, community leagues, health facilities, churches, provincial facilities such as the Royal Alberta Museum, and those owned and operated by the City of Edmonton such as Fort Edmonton.
